Stavanger Konserthus

Rock, pop, classical or jazz – since its inauguration in 2012, there have been no limits to the range of music on offer in the concert hall in Stavangen. The project was planned and implemented by architects Ratio Arkitekter AS based in Oslo. The concert hall actually consists of two individual buildings called Fartein Valen and Zetlitz. Fartein Valen is the orchestra hall that is home to the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. From the outside, a simple, rectangular, red concrete building without windows. However, although unassuming from the outside, on the inside, it couldn't be more different: adjustable acoustic reflectors and ceiling elements form the ideal sound base for both large and small concerts. Constructed like a group of clouds, they are an eye-catching feature that relegate the technical equipment to the background and provide a contrast to the otherwise warm wood on the balcony fronts and walls. The Zetlitz multi-purpose hall offers natural acoustics for louder rock or jazz concerts. Externally, this consists only of steel and glass giving a very severe and minimalist impression. However, the main auditorium in this complex is also equipped with the very latest technology: For example, lifting podiums, hoists and adjustable axles that ensure perfect acoustics in the hall. In addition to the two main halls, the Stavanger Konserthus has another 178 rooms. These include bathrooms fitted with Duravit products from the Vero and Starck 3 series.
